This position will contribute to Merck's drug discovery and clinical development efforts in the Department of Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics and Drug Metabolism (PPDM) at MRL Boston. The successful candidate will have a passion for generating high quality in vitro PPDM data for use by project teams across a range of therapeutic areas. As well as performing assays according to standard protocols, there will be opportunities to develop novel methods to address PPDM-related questions. The successful candidate will also be involved in designing and interpreting studies utilizing in silico, in vitro or in vivo approaches to improve our success in inventing differentiated medicines.



Qualifications
Education: 
  • Bachelor’s degree with 7 years relevant experience, Master’s degree with 4 years relevant experience, or a Ph.D. Appropriate subjects for highest degree include biochemistry, chemistry, pharmacology or chemical engineering.

Required: 
  • Desire to perform and interpret in vitro drug metabolism studies
  • Expertise in bioanalysis using LC-MS/MS
  • In-depth knowledge of drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics
  • Enthusiasm to learn more about drug discovery and development
  • Track record of successful leadership
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Preferred:
  • Experience of working within a research-driven pharmaceutical company
  • Experience in peptide and/or biologics drug discovery or development
  • Familiarity with PKPD concepts and practice
