The incumbent is provided guidance regarding scheduled workscope over a one to five day period. He/she is expected to plan out their time and resources to accomplish the tasks over that period of time taking into account a variable aircraft schedule. The incumbent must handle unscheduled maintenance events in a manner that does not impact scheduled flights. In particular when assigned off-hours or off-site support duties, the incumbent is expected to have the experience, knowledge and accumen to troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely and effective manner and in compliance with all federal regulations and manufacturers criteria.

The incumbent will be faced with complex systems troubleshooting in all technical disciplines associated with multi-engined aircraft operations and expected to quickly determine the source of an anomaly and develop actions to resolve. Utilizing experience, training and all additional resources available, the incumbent will be faced with challenges of limited remote country resources, language barriers, time zone differences, and local regulatory requirements

Given that the position must interact effectively with peer technicians, pilots, and operations staff to effectively accomplish this role, the Merck leadership skills of Rapid and Disciplined Decision Making, Acting with Courage and Candor, Demonstrating Ethics and Integrity, and Fostering Collaboration are particularly important for incumbents in this role. 

NOTE:  This is a 2nd shift role, with travel and coverage that may occur over nights, weekends, holidays.  Flexibility to work a variable schedule is required.


  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required (Associates degree or higher preferred)
  • Airframe & Powerplant Certification is required
  • Minimum of five (5) years maintaining multi-engine powered aircraft
  • Strong electronic troubleshooting skills
  • Valid driver's license


  • Turbine engine aircraft experience
