The High Point University, Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy, Department of Basic Pharmaceutical Sciences (BPS) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position, as an Assistant or Associate Professor of Pharmaceutics. The earliest possible start date is January 1, 2018. The individual will be responsible for delivery of material in particular research focus of interest includes drug delivery including pharmaceutical nanotechnology, formulation science, macromolecular therapeutics/biopharmaceutics, biotechnology, and PKPD modeling.


  • Participation in didactic, computational, and laboratory teaching activities covering pharmaceutics, pharmacokinetics drug manufacturing and pharmaceutics laboratories, and related courses within the HPU School of Pharmacy curriculum as appointed by the Department Chair
  • Provide mentorship and advisement for students in the School of Pharmacy as requested by Department Chair.
  • Communicate teaching and research activities through frequent and effective communication with the Chair of BPS.
  • Integrate and enhance interactions between the basic sciences, clinical sciences and pharmacy practice in areas of research, education, and service. Translate novel technologies into clinical investigation, and collaborate with other basic researchers or clinical investigators.
  • Act as a representative and advocate for the department, the school of pharmacy and the University.
  • Actively participate in committees within the department, School, University and in professional and governmental organizations as requested by the Department Chair and/or School Administration.
  • Undertake other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Chair of BPS.



  • Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Analytical Chemistry or related field.


Experience and Training:

  • A minimum of ten years of industry-related experience
  • Minimum of two years of pharmaceutical chemistry and/or pharmacokinetics experience.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Assessment of physico-chemical properties of natural and synthetic materials in development of medicinal products
    • Drug formulation development
    • Macromolecular therapeutics/biopharmaceutics
    • Drug disposition and transport
    • Pharmaceutical nanotechnology and materials science with focus on drug delivery and design
    • Protein stabilization
    • PKPD Modeling
    • Biomarkers of drug response and toxicity
    • Preferred areas of interest include, but are not limited to neuroscience, infectious diseases and inflammatory diseases.


Knowledge, Skills, Ability:



  • Thorough knowledge of concepts, approaches, regulations and future directions in pharmaceutics.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others



  • Demonstrated records of excellence in teaching and scholarship, and a commitment to excellence in pharmacy education and research.
