The Associate Director will be responsible for:

  • Leading teams to develop microbial, viral and cell culture processes that are robust, scalable and economical for fermentor, bioreactor and/or roller bottle platforms in the production of veterinary viral vaccines.
  • Leading large cross-functional teams and demonstrates working knowledge of current USDA regulatory guidelines and advanced technical knowledge.
  • Applying business skills related to building working relationships and ensure information flows to manufacturing, Planning regulatory Affairs, QA, Validation and QC groups.
  • Leading teams to develop creative, innovative approaches and solutions.
  • Seeking out new platform technologies and improving existing processes.
  • Overseeing scaling up of production processes, making cost effective changes to raw materials or components and process parameters to ensure quality is maintained in large scale production.
  • Leading teams in problem solving activities using Lean Manufacturing tools to ensure direction and control of continuous improvement, waste reduction and yield improvement.
  • Collaborating and interfacing with R&D and BTS to bring new products to market.
  • Ensuring team is properly trained on documentation.
  • Preparing comprehensive, accurate and well written project standard work instructions.
  • Communicating routinely and effectively with Site leadership, BTS, Quality, Quality Assurance and regulatory affairs on such things as, project scope, objective, timeline and results.


Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher

Required :

  • A minimum 15 years’ experience in veterinary vaccine R&D, Process Development or Manufacturing.
  • Experience in bioprocess scale up and vaccine manufacturing.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent project management, documentation and writing skills

Preferred:

  • Extensive knowledge of large scale viral manufacturing including Cell culture, Viral, concentration and purification methods.
  • Working knowledge of USDA regulations
  • Lean certifications of Green belt, Black Belt
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing tools such as, value stream maps, process flow diagrams, fishbone diagrams
