The Associate Director, Process Description Engineering provides managerial oversite for packaging artwork, change control and master data management processes at the Wilson site which is the cornerstone of Merck's Primary US Packaging operations. In addition will be leading a team in support of site and supplier change control, printed component technical design/ workflow/approval, and master data needs at the Wilson site. 


The successful candidate will have the ability to coach, influence and support others through a culture of inclusion, continuous improvement, feedback, and empowerment. Additionally, the successful candidate will have excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently as a team leader or team member; and strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

  • Manages demand, resource capacity capacity and delivery of change control and master data changes for the Wilson site.
  • Leads site Engineering Change Management (ECM) Meeting where process changes are reviewed, planned and statused.
  • Direct and coach individuals within Process Description Engineering (PDE), SAP master data maintenance and change control to achieve site supply chain and customer service objectives.
  • Responsible for overseeing people performance and development for the PDE Team to meet site/departmental
  • objectives, and address skill gaps, organization needs and career development.
  • Ensures Wilson site master data is accurate and ensures data is renewed as appropriate.
  • Drives continuous improvement for the processes and resources in PDE to optimize flow.
  • Supports product launches, network supply changes and network transfer activities.
  • Drives inclusion and employee development within the department to create a high performing organization.
  • Collaborates with Wilson Integrated Process Teams (IPTs) and Centers of Excellence (CoEs) at and above site to drive initiatives in a manner that are most beneficial to Merck.


Qualifications

Education:

  • Required: B.S./B.A. in business, Logistics, Engineering or science discipline

Required:

  • 10 or more years of supervision / leadership within production operations in a GMP environment required.
  • Experience with product launches, product source changes, product commercialization, and/or planning authorized generics preferred.
  • Working knowledge and experience with SAP transactional processes and master data.
  • Supervisory and teamwork experience desirable; able to communicate and motivate work teams to continuously improve.
