Merck is on a quest for cures and is committed to being the world’s premier, most research-intensive biopharmaceutical company. Today, we’re doubling down on this goal. With appropriate supervision, the role includes planning, designing, developing methodologies and executing projects utilizing good scientific judgment. The position is a hands-on, laboratory based role with no direct reports (individual contributor).

  • Human and/or rodent cell and tissue culture skills
  • Able to perform cellular immune function assays (i.e. proliferation/cytotoxicity/apoptosis assays).
  • Experience in techniques such as bioassays (eg. ELISA, multiplex protein analysis), cell separation techniques (i. e. density centrifugation, magnetic bead separation), FACS sorting or basic molecular biology
  • Good data handling and recording skills as well as the ability to interpret moderately complex data sets and draw appropriate conclusions from them
  • Must be able to work as a team player and be enthusiastic
Preferred:
  • Cell line engineering for assay development
  • Experience of more sophisticated flow cytometry or molecular biology techniques
  • Cellular staining and imaging techniques (eg. immunohistochemistry, light and confocal microscopy)
  • In vivo experience
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech industry or academic setting in an immunology, biology, biochemistry or related discipline would be an advantage but technical training will be provided

Your role at Merck is integral to helping the world meet new breakthroughs that affect generations to come, and we’re counting on your skills and inventiveness to help make meaningful contributions to global medical advancement. At Merck, we’re inventing for life.
