How will you invent the future?

As a  Data Science Associate Specialist at Merck’s Austin IT HUB, you will be part of inventing tomorrow.  Our Innovative centers are where great people come together and deliver solutions that save and improve lives.

 

You will:
Perform job duties independently with minimal supervision; be responsible for implementing analytical solutions; work closely with business areas, participating in all phases of projects, including ideation, data discovery and preparation, data analytics, and communication

You will also be responsible to:

  • Learn and use analytical strategies and application software as required in project execution
  • Communicate results to colleagues with interpretations and insights
  • Reliably meet deadlines while acting with impeccable integrity 100% of the time
  • Accept responsibility for mistakes, fix them, and learn from them
  • Understand company’s strategic vision, goals and direction
  • Stay abreast of current industry best practices and trends

 

You will work and learn more about:

  • Pharmaceutical business
  • Data Analytics
  • Development in various languages including Java, R, Python


Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Sciences, or Engineering

Required :

  • Aware of data modeling concepts (e.g. conceptual, logical and physical data models) and a variety of data standards
  • Knowledgeable of data science and data visualization tools used to translate findings into business terms
  • Able to access and merge large volumes of structures/unstructured data, while ensuring data quality and consistency
  • Programming knowledge in one or more of R, Python, JAVA, D3
  • Adept in use of visualization applications such as TIBCO Spotfire, and database querying languages such as SQL

Preferred:

  • Aware of applications, platforms and business processes relevant to scientific analytics
