Anokion is searching for a Scientist in Protein Analytics to provide to provide expertise in developing our immune tolerance technologies into targeted therapies for autoimmune diseases. This individual will apply state-of-the-art analytical technologies to ensure drug like properties, assist in cross-functional development of the research and development strategy, and plan and coordinate the resources for the protein analytics function.  The candidate will identify and conduct experiments to evaluate physicochemical properties of new biologic entities (polymers and antibody-like proteins) to identify any liabilities that could impact in vivo pre-clinical evaluations and drug product development.



The successful candidate will actively be involved in various protein analytics investigations of Anokion’s lead molecules, using their targeted skill set to accomplish the following responsibilities:

·       Design and execute analytical studies to evaluate quality and developability for our pre-clinical stage protein and non-protein candidates

·       Work closely with the head of the Therapeutics Development and Analytics group and others within the organization to plan tasks, determine resources and schedules, and present data within and outside the organization.

·       Provide leadership to 1-2 associate scientists in the lab and mentor inside and out of the group to ensure backup redundancy for all critical functions

·       Interpret results and assist in authoring technical protocols/reports, analytical method SOP’s and analytical CMC sections in regulatory documents

·       Develop and execute in-process analytical methods in support of protein expression systems, process development, and pre-formulation

·       Leverage the latest advances in protein analytics to develop, optimize, troubleshoot, remediate, qualify, validate and transfer analytical methods to CRO or CMO organizations

·       Develop and validate analytical methods in support of formulation, drug product development and stability studies.

·       Assist as necessary in the downstream processing of candidate molecules





·      MS/PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, or equivalent with 5+ years’ experience in industrial analytical laboratories supporting method development and testing of commercial or clinical protein products

·      Expertise in liquid chromatography, protein chemistry and mass spectrometry of protein molecules, including glycoproteins, especially in LC and LC-MS method development and qualification as well as hands-on knowledge and experience with immunoassays (i.e., ELISA)

·      Demonstrated success during a minimum 5-year industry experience in a scientific leadership role, with a focus on pre-clinical to Phase I GMP biologics development

·      She or he should be a dynamic, independent, flexible, well-organized, pro-active, collaborative-minded individual interested in contributing to excellent research science in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
