The Senior Regional Supply Chain Planner position is responsible for working closely with US Human Health marketing and finance team for sales and forecasting activities associated with customers and products. As well coordinates the logistics of all aspects of the supply chain which consists of five parts: plan, source (finished good/bulk), manufacturing (focused on productivity and efficiency, delivery and logistics and the return system (for defective or unwanted products).

The Senior Regional Supply Chain Planner position is the integration point into the MMD and commercial organization. This position leads the dialogue each month for their products with key counterparts in Marketing, Finance and Manufacturing. In this role the planner will be responsible for demand management, maintaining supply to markets, sustain and foster customer relations. Depending on the product and/or supply chain, the role can include developing production plans for the manufacturing and packaging of pharmaceutical products.

Basic Functions:

  • Review demand forecasts (operational forecasts) and historical sales trends at multiple levels of aggregation for multiple time horizons as part of a demand planning function for Merck products.
  • If applicable, review demand forecasts provided by Alliance, Authorized Generic partner and
  • Interact with sales, marketing, and customer finance to understand demand forecast drivers.
  • Utilize a collaborative and consensus approach by working with Sales, Marketing and Customer Finance to obtain and ensure that current and accurate information is used for demand forecasts.
  • Use and maintain the ERP tool as the primary forecasting system tool for managing and retrieving data.
  • Provide input to appropriate organization in developing inventory strategies on existing items, new products, and product phase-outs.
  • Closely coordinate and communicate customer action plans within supply planning, distribution & logistics and manufacturing organization.
  • Lead or Participate in Brand Level S&OP. Accountable for running pre-analysis of the Key Supply Chain indicators (Customer Service, Forecast Accuracy, Demand Variability, Inventory) to support S&OP.

Job Functions:

  • Achieve consensus for operational demand forecasts by facilitating a collaborative planning process with sales, marketing and finance personnel:
  • Prepare relevant material to facilitate research and discussion
  • Provide input to volume planning ( Latest Estimates / annual process)
  • Achieve consensus with the USHH and the supply chain
  • Maintain demand and supply planning system and software
  • Enter and modify master data and ensure smooth flow of supply chain
  • Prepare and maintain relevant reports pertaining to demand planning process
  • Provide comprehensive information, analytics and visibility around Product Supply, Demand, and Inventory status to Supply Chain Product Leaders, S&OP Business Owners, Global Supply Chain (GSC) Management and Line of Business (LOB).
  • Develop production plans in line with existing all-encompassing planning procedures for the product portfolio.
  • Develop and realize an inventory plan, while analyzing market forecasts and plan for the future
  • Measure and understand the company's risk management, while balancing site-related costs and benefits
  • Ensure continuous improvement and drives changes in order to support an evolving corporation and initiate change in regards to her or his assigned products

Key Results:

A customer demand forecast which incorporates current and accurate market information that allows the company to correctly predict customer demand and provide its supply chain with the appropriate information to plan how to meet that customer demand.
Improved relationships among planners, sales, marketing and finance, which will lead to effective knowledge sharing and an optimal consensus forecast to better guide the company.
Refined systems and methods to continually improve demand and supply process so that the company can better anticipate customer needs.
Execute with excellence in the area of customer replenishment and feedback to the Supply Chain groups the opportunities and risks regarding customer replenishment performance metrics.



Qualifications

Education:

  • BA/BS college degree or its equivalent. MBA preferred.

Required:

  • Minimum of (3) three years of experience in the Supply Chain industry.
  • Experience in a comparable and relevant function
  • Strong hands-on mentality and affinity towards manufacturing is welcomed
  • Fundamental knowledge of supply chain operations and management
  • Proficient use in MS Office, particularly Excel, SAP R/3 and APO
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills are a must
  • Strong interpersonal skills are also essential to effectively interact with all teams, areas and levels of business.
  • Ability to handle and manage multiple priorities within day-to-day business
  • Good facilitation skills are required.
  • Capability to work well in a cross-cultural business surrounding
  • Show resilience in a dynamic and continuously changing corporate environment
  • Knowledge in forecasting and forecasting methods with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts.

Preferred:

  • APICS or other forecasting Certification preferred
