SENIOR SCIENTIST - ADME AND TRANSLATIONAL PHARMACOKINETIC / PHARMACODYNAMIC MODELER

This position will support Merck's drug discovery and early clinical development efforts within the ADME group of the Department of Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics and Drug Metabolism (PPDM). The primary role of the successful candidate will be to develop, execute and foster translational Pharmacokinetic Pharmacodynamic (TPKPD) and other useful quantitative pharmacology applications on program teams in a discovery setting. The candidate will be expected to serve as a representative in multi-disciplinary teams providing expertise, guidance and hands-on support for the application of quantitative pharmacology sciences to address key questions and issues. The candidate will also be expected to support various internal and/or external scientific initiatives, such as the development and application of novel physiologically-based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) approaches.

Knowledge of drug metabolism sciences (ADME - Absorption-Distribution-Metabolism-Excretion) and pharmacodynamics are required. Responsibilities will also include presenting analyses to governance committees as well as preparing documentation for regulatory submissions.

Qualifications

Education:

  • MS in biopharmaceutics, pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacometrics, computational biology/chemistry, or a related field with an additional 4+ years of relevant pharmaceutical industry experience
  • Ph.D. in biopharmaceutics, pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacometrics, computational biology/chemistry, or a related field with relevant pharmaceutical industry experience

Required:

  • Strong scientific background in pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and drug metabolism (ADME) sciences
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and leadership skills
  • Experience and proficiency using modeling software such as Phoenix, simCYP, Matlab, NONMEM, etc

Preferred:

  • Experience in serving on multidisciplinary project teams
