This position reports directly to the Merck Research Laboratories (MRL) IT Delivery Director responsible for Global Drug Safety systems.

Under the leadership of the IT Delivery Director, the Technical Analyst will
• Deliver capabilities and solutions by leveraging platforms, software and technologies to enable Merck’s critical Global Safety business processes.
• Learn and understand the existing applications, data models, data flows, integrations, and architecture that make up the Safety Platform.
• Be responsible for leading change management, development, testing strategy, implementation, deployment strategy, and hypercare support for new solutions and for ongoing technical enhancements of existing solutions.
• Explore, evaluate and compare industry and emerging technologies and vendor products which are used in support of safety case intake, processing, signaling, reporting and analytics.
• Collaborate and align on products/technology options with solution architects and focus on innovation and high quality solutions.
• Build effective relationships as part of a large cross-functional team and collaborate with IT, delivery leads, business leads, client service leads, infrastructure, support teams, IT hubs and external vendor partners to implement new & updated solutions.
• Be a primary contributor and ensure the quality of system deliverables including design/configuration specifications, system and user acceptance testing, software installation and the completion of required GxP, System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and Change Management documentation.
• Support and contribute to IT strategic plans and roadmaps in support of the Safety Platform and MRL IT portfolio planning process.



Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelors Degree or higher

Required:

  • Minimum of 3 years of IT technical analysis experience in the pharamaceutical industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge and analytical thinking for problem solving is essential.
  • Proven ability to implement technical solutions with IT partners and vendors.
  • Experience with authoring and reviewing application development validation deliverables such as system requirements, design/configuration specifications, system/user acceptance test scripts and installation verification.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to collaborate effectively with both a technical and business audience.
  • Strong organization, decision making and follow-up skills are critical for this role.

Preferred:

  • Experience with pharmaceutical safety case intake, processing, signaling, reporting and/or analytics.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Oracle Argus Safety and Empirica Signal.
  • Knowledge of and experience with vendor product capabilities and product/technology roadmaps.
  • Knowledge of and experience with application development, testing and implementation in an external hosting and cloud environments.
