The Senior Specialist is responsible for the maintenance, development, rollout and oversight of global systems and processes related to Merck’s Anti-Bribery and Corruption and Data Analytics programs.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Specialist, will support the strategic execution of compliance systems and processes designed to facilitate adherence to international and national laws relating to anti-bribery and anti-corruption, monitoring and reporting and third party compliance and ethics investigations tracking.. The Senior Specialist must be able to: 
  • Serve in the role of business process and system owner, and primary liaison to IT, for compliance systems and tools supporting the global programs for the Office of Ethics. In this capacity, the Senior Specialist provides process knowledge and technical capability to support compliance data management systems and tools including, but not limited to, the Concern Case Management System (CCMS), Anti-corruption/Anti-bribery System (ABC System), Third Party Anti-corruption/Anti-bribery System (Third Party Risk Management System), and the Company’s Data Analytics Program. 
  • Assisting in operations-related work for the Data Analytics team, managing service levels and escalations, and ensuring quality and timeliness of market-facing deliverables. 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve questions and issues from users of global business processes, systems and tools. 
  • Ensure timely resolution of systems issues by working in close collaboration with IT. 
  • Support analysis and reporting of ethics and compliance tracking, monitoring and reporting data on a quarterly basis and ad hoc requests to help identify trends and business risks by region and division. 
  • Works across headquarters, regions and country legal and compliance teams to support timely reporting and help drive consistent use of global processes and data systems. 
  • Contribute to and support the strategy for integration of systems and data that are used when interacting with government officials outside of the United States. 
  • Manage team spaces, communities and intranet sites that relate to the programs of the Office of Ethics and Global Ethics and Compliance Program. 
  • Facilitate adherence with document retention schedules, document archival, and information sensitivity classification for the documents and systems managed by the Office of Ethics. Responsible for the on-going completeness and maintenance of central document repository for Office of Ethics. 
  • Support development and implementation of training on above referenced systems, tools and resources
  • Support implementation of Office of Ethics projects and initiatives, as needed. 


Qualifications
Education Minimum Requirement: 
  • Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in data analytics or business analyst roles.
  • Proven project management skills 
  • Strong analytical communication (written and oral), organization skills, and problem solving skills required 
  • Demonstrated self-starter 
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork 
  • Experience working with cross functional teams to achieve critical business objectives and projects 
  • Requires the ability to interpret and communicate analytical results 
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment that demands initiative and responsiveness 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in analytical tools such as Spotfire or Minitab 
  • Must be flexible to adjust work hours in order to accommodate meetings with global stakeholders early in the morning or late in the evening.

Preferred Experience and Skills: 

  • Bachelors Degree or above in one or more of the following: Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, MIS 
  • Basic knowledge of regulatory environment in the Life Sciences sector (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), Anti-Bribery & Corruption (ABC) legislation, OECD convention on corruption, local corruption legislation, enforcement trends) 
  • Experience with visualization design and implementation to drive business insights leveraging tools such (e.g. Spotfire etc.) Project Management Certification 
  • Prior audit/finance/data analytics experience in compliance areas
