As a subject matter expert and contact for pharmaceutical sciences in Drug Products, S&T, drives product & process understanding, innovation and problem-solving for pipeline and commercial products by designing and implementing studies aimed at new or improved products and processes
Key Responsibilities Includes:
Leads a small team of scientists in understanding product and process challenges and developing technical solutions in support of pipeline projects and marketed products. Applies science-based approach to efficiently and effectively solve technical problems related to raw materials, drug products and manufacturing processes within the project timelines. Applies imagination and innovation by creating, inventing, and implementing new or better approaches, alternatives and breakthrough ideas in the development of new/improved products, process or technology.
Develops and achieves discipline strategy in alignment with functional goals and key scientific objectives. Collaborates with experts across functions to integrate scientific objectives into activities.
Advances scientific expertise within function. Proactively demonstrates leadership by advises and shares knowledge and expert opinions with subordinates, peers, and senior management. Mentors and trains functional colleagues and assesses current and emerging business challenges enabling functional goal achievement.
Ensures quality and effectiveness of key results of major project plans within function through sound design, early risk assessments, and implementation of fallback strategies.
Sources and identifies emerging scientific trends from multiple internal and external sources and assess relevance. Integrates trends into functional short-term objectives. Advances cross-discipline technology and direction through generation of data.
Presents scientific concepts and results for functional scientific and non-scientific leaders as well as potential and existing partners. Maximizes impact and value of expertise.
This position is equivalent to an Associate Director level role
Bachelor?s Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with at least 16 years of experience; Master?s Degree at least 14 years of experience; PhD with typically at least 8 years of experience in pharmaceutical product and process development or commercial support.
In-depth knowledge and experience physicochemical characterization, formulation and process development, scale-up and biopharmaceutics.
Proven ability to innovate with a history of new or improved product & process.
Interacts well with diverse groups within function and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators.
Demonstrated ability to influence others in areas of science and technology.
