Lexicon Pharmaceuticals is currently recruiting for an agile, results focused Supply Chain Manager in The Woodlands, Texas.
The Supply Chain Manager position encompasses two separate functions. The first is to support CMC Drug Product Pharmaceutics leads and monitor contract manufacturers by being the main point of contact for secondary packaging, labeling, distribution, returns, and destruction of clinical trial material as well as sourcing of ancillary clinical supplies. As part of this activity, this position is required to locate, qualify, plan and negotiate contracts with appropriate third-party vendors. The incumbent is also responsible for managing the control of inventory levels of clinical trial material, including expiry date management. The second function of this position is in the area of trade compliance. The Supply Chain Manager is required to coordinate and interface with government agencies related to customs activities to ensure that Lexicon is in compliance with all appropriate state, federal and international regulations. He/She is also required to interface with appropriate staff at Lexicon to ensure that they have appropriate knowledge and understanding of import/export laws and procedures, tariffs/duties and licenses/restrictions.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Working with the Supply Chain Analyst, manage inventory of clinical trial material (CTM) ensuring that sufficient supplies are available for ongoing and planned studies.
Working with CMOs and third-party distribution depots to ensure that primary packaged CTM is shipped/transferred to appropriate sites for distribution for ongoing and planned studies.
Ensuring that Lexicon is in compliance with state, federal, and international regulations that relate to trade compliance.
Maintaining an understanding of current best practices in the area of good distribution practices.
Remaining current in areas of responsibility through reading and attendance at appropriate conferences.
Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry or related field is required, Master’s Degree in Business or Supply Chain is preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the area of managing supplies for clinical trials, including secondary packaging, labeling, distribution, returns, and sourcing of ancillary clinical supplies with experience supporting clinical trials in Europe.
At least 5 years of experience in the area of trade compliance.
Experience interacting with contract organizations that perform secondary packaging and labeling.
Knowledge of current GMP and GDP standards
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability and desire to work in a team-oriented environment.
