The Department of Chemistry and Applied Biosciences at ETH Zurich (www.chab.ethz.ch) invites applications for the above-mentioned position.
The newly appointed assistant professor will be expected to establish a successful, internationally recognized research group in the areas of Biopharmacy and Pharmacokinetics. This scientific discipline encompasses the understanding of drug absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion in living organisms, and the related toxicity mechanisms. The successful candidate will develop a cutting-edge research program focused on topics related to in vitro–in vivo correlation, in silico prediction, physiologically-based pharmacokinetic modeling, drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics, pharmacokinetics/genomics, metabolomics, membrane transporters, population pharmacokinetics and drug-drug interactions.
This research is expected to bridge basic and clinical research, providing numerous opportunities for translational activities and collaborations with the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. Contributions will be pivotal to ETH Zurich’s strategic area of action in Health and Medicine, in particular for translational and personalized medicine.
The assistant professorship will be part of the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (IPW) within the Department of Chemistry and Applied Biosciences. At the assistant professor level, commitment to teaching, mentoring at the undergraduate and graduate level, and leading a research group are expected.
Assistant professorships have been established to promote the careers of younger scientists. ETH Zurich implements a tenure track system equivalent to that of other top international universities.
