We have built the foundation with a micro-services based architecture hosted in AWS, integration with electronic health records systems, and a continuous delivery pipeline. We are looking to scale this to support a portfolio of products and integrate with a multitude of healthcare information systems.

The Lead Data Architect will be the primary expert and lead for health data integration, patient data models, medical vocabularies and ontologies, and data interoperability. This role will work closely with the platform architect, product architects, and engineering leadership to drive innovation, both in architecture and in supporting advanced data analysis. This role requires breadth across engineering disciplines, and depth in data modeling, database technology and medical data representation systems. It also requires a proven track-record in leading development of new cloud-based products in healthcare. While this is a key leadership role in engineering and will require overall ownership of the design and delivery, it is expected the lead data architect can be hands on in the code and lead by example.

What youâll be doingâ¦.

  • Leadership: lead the design and roadmap for the data collection, data transformation and data representation support multiple clinical decision support products; ensure alignment with the overall architecture for DIS products and platform; guide engineers on best practices for data modeling, database design and data interoperability; ensures a culture that values innovative technical excellence together with support and compassion for individuals.

  • Software Development: This role includes some hands-on software development for prototyping and demonstration.

  • Vision: Shape the future roadmap of the business by investigating new technologies, implementing PoCs, and proposing innovative new solutions, working closely with the Engineering leadership, Architects, and Lead Engineers to drive the future of the business

Your background and skillsâ¦.

  • Have successfully built, deployed, and supported cloud-based medical applications in the cloud (in a leadership role)

  • Experience in the role of an architect, leading a technical team, designing large software systems, and operating at the engineering management team level

  • Quick learner with the ability to understand complex workflows and develop and validate innovative solutions to solve difficult problems

  • Good communicator, able to talk with stakeholders and customers to explain technology and with the proven ability to take insights from customers and translate them into technical deliverables

  • Advanced degree or equivalent in a directly related discipline (Computer Science, Health Informatics, Biomedical Informatics, etc.)

  • Hands-on software development experience, preferably either Java or C++/C#

  • Knowledge and experience working with health data exchange standards (HL7, FHIR, C-CDA, etc.) as well as medical vocabularies and ontologies (ICD, SNOWMED CT, HPO, etc.)

  • Knowledge and experience building common patient data models (e.g. OMOP)

  • Familiarity with data analytics, machine/deep learning

  • 10+ years experience
