The Trial Optimization Analyst will be accountable for the successful delivery of data insight generation and predictive enrollment modeling tactics within the Feasibility Center of Excellence within Global Clinical Development Operations (GCDO).  This individual will work closely with the Global Feasibility Lead to coordinate the collection of data sets from cross-functional teams and data sources to quantitatively facilitate scenario planning, enrollment projections, study enrollment progress tracking, local intelligence, and surveys.  This role will be hands-on with Feasibility technologies to optimize patient enrollment scenarios, database information and key measures, and pull data for analysis.  Identify categories of risk and opportunity to improve study optimization (e.g. country start-up timelines, enrollment trends, site productivity, impact of patient recruitment tactics, etc.).
 
Principal Responsibilities:
  • Operationalize technology and analytical initiatives related to enrollment tracking and optimization with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Track and apply GCDO country, site, and enrollment performance Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across all Janssen clinical trials.
  • Provide intelligence regarding program planning, protocol design, country and site placement, and enrollment modelling utilizing data-driven approaches to influence optimized approaches to clinical trial execution.
  • Drive the implementation and improvement of initiatives/processes/technologies provided by the Feasibility Insights Group Lead and larger Feasibility Center of Excellence.
  • Function as a System Matter Expert (SME) for operational Feasibility systems for internal and external customers.
  • Collect and report on clinical trial performance metrics regarding trial placement, optimization, and enrollment.
  • Track efficiencies resulting from the implementation of new technology initiatives related to study placement and enrollment tracking.
  • Effectively partner with CROs to establish and follow operational enrollment technology and operational business processes.
  • Stay informed of clinical trial optimizing trends within Therapeutic Areas (TAs), data analytics, and technologies and promote KPIs to influence optimizing behavior.
  • Prepare external/internal benchmarking, competitive landscape, country tiering, site profiles, and enrollment modeling to be incorporated into the larger Feasibility strategy.
  • Establish data analytics methodologies for operational and feasibility insights.
  • Coordinate with and support Feasibility Data Sciences to grow and create data-generated insights and visualizations.
  • Support the Feasibility Lead in program and protocol planning deliverables such as recruitment rates, site numbers, enrollment estimates, country footprint, start-up timelines, impact of protocol criteria, and site and patient profiles.
  • Ensure appropriate escalation of technology and vendor issues as needed.
  • Follows Feasibility business processes and supports continuous improvement activities.
  • Support clinical operations roles early in the development cycle providing initial enrollment timelines, High Level Budget (Op Plan).
  • Provide leadership and facilitation to the global Feasibility process across a matrix team.
  • Data-driven insights generation to support the Feasibility strategy.
  • Continually improve and evolve data analytics methods relevant to becoming more predictive in clinical trial enrollment planning.
  • Track and communicate KPIs for clinical trial enrollment successes.
  • The position reportsto the Feasibility Insights Group Leader.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in clinical trial execution, applied technology, and/or business operations is required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of Data Analytics experience is required.
  • Experience in the Pharmaceutical/Healthcare industry is preferred.
  • Experience in the areas of drug development, clinical trial operations, and strategic planning is preferred.
  • Patient enrollment modeling experience is preferred.
  • Prior experience working for a Contract Research Organization (CRO) is preferred.
  • Experience in driving and implementing new technologies is required.
  • Experience in applying data insights to optimize a strategy or scenario is required.
  • Feasibility experience is preferred.
  • Experience with information systems (e.g. Clinical Trial Management Systems (CTMS), Decision View Study Optimizer (DVSO), Monte Carlo) preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic statistical and analytical principles required.
  • Must have excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented with strong planning, tracking and organizational skills.
  • Must be customer-focused.
  • Must have effective leadership skills and a proven ability to foster team productivity and cohesiveness.
  • Must have the ability to work well in a dynamic environment and to prioritize and respond to changing needs of a rapidly growing organization.
  • The ability to collaborate with all levels of management and influence decision-making in a global, matrix environment is required.
  • This position will require up to 10% domestic and international travel.
